Alan Smith MSN, CRNA Senior Managing Partner with Sleepsmith Staffing LLC chose anesthesia as a second career. His first career was as a commercial airline pilot with Delta Connection. Events in the airline industry following 09/11/2001, along with a desire to start a family, led to a career change to Nurse Anesthesia. Upon leaving the airline industry, Alan enrolled in the undergraduate nursing program at University of Michigan-Flint. After a 3-year period working as a surgical intensive care unit nurse at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI, Alan enrolled in the Oakland University Graduate Nurse Anesthesia program and graduated in 2015.
After an initial year of working in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Alan began working in Cheboygan, Michigan with Treavor Eimers. Early in 2018, Alan and Treavor formed Sleepsmith Staffing LLC.
Alan has a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from University of Michigan-Flint and a Masters of Science in Nursing from Oakland University’s Beaumont Nurse Anesthesia Program. His clinical interests include ultrasound-guided nerve blocks and economics in anesthesia. He is married to Aimee Smith and they are proud parents of a son and daughter.
